ICELS 2022

With extensive experiences in environmental science and environmental management, the Chaipattana Foundation by The King's Royally Initiated Laem Phak Bia Environmental Research and Development Project, Faculty of Environment (Department of Environmental Science) Kasetsart University, and supporting agencies, jointly organize the 3rd International Conference on  Environment, Livelihood and Services: Environmental Adaptation and Social Self-Reliance (ICELS 2022), with an aim to create a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences on environment that can lead towards management measures for both current and future regional and global climate situations. The frequency and intensity of natural disasters across the world have been increasing, including storms, floods, typhoons, hurricanes and sandstorms as well as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and droughts. One of the major causes of these problems is the greenhouse effect resulted from the combustion of organic materials, particularly the burning of agricultural wastes, forest fires, fossil burning, etc. These natural disasters have caused numerable losses as well as impacts on human livelihood. As a consequence, people have now become more aware of the disasters that may occur in the near future. The ICELS 2022 conference aims to gather environmental scientists, engineers, policy makers, industrialists, entrepreneurs and research students from around the world to share common interests, to discuss on environment-related topics and to address the problems.

With our Warm Welcome,
ICELS2022 Organizing Team

Message from the

Chairman of the ICELS 2022 Organizing Committee

On behalf of the organizers, I would like to welcome all the local and oversea participants who wish to virtually attend The 3rd International Conference on Livelihood, Environment, and Services (ICELS) under the theme ‘Environmental Adaptation and Social Self-Reliance’.

Looking back at our history, the first and second ICELS which were held in 2015 and 2018 proved to be a success, with more than 200 participants attended the conference as well as keynotes and guest speakers. Various topics were presented by prestigious speakers and international scholars on challenges confronting the state of the world’s environment. As part of moving forward, the third ICELS will be held this year through an online platform. It is expected to bring together delegates from around the world in professional and academic cooperation to exchange and share academic understandings, not only in overcoming of the environmental problems, but also in enhancing the livelihoods of the global citizens, both at the present time and in the future.

Placing ideas into perspectives of the hosting theme ‘Environmental Adaptation and Social Self-Reliance’, with minor themes namely 1) Resource Adaptation, 2) Disaster and Environmental Pollution Preparedness, 3) Environmental Technology and Innovation and 4) Society. Each section will be concentrated on intervention, not only in research papers, but also by means of presentation. The intention is to add up new knowledge of the participants so that they could convey the knowledge to youth, people in their communities and at a global level to understand livelihood, environment and services as tools for their own immunity in securing necessities of their lives in the changing world from now on.

Lastly, as you may be aware, the global health crisis with Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has set about a unique challenge that has impacted many participants in this conference in many ways. Governments around the world are now issuing restrictions on travel, gatherings, and meetings to limit and slow the spread of the virus. Following the advices and guidelines from healthcare officials and local authorities, the ICELS 2022 will now be held virtually on March 1st-3rd 2022. Although ICELS 2022 cannot be held physically, the integrity and quality of the research and content will remain at a high standard and now be experienced in the virtual environment.
